Truman Lake is the home of three main species of catfish in Missouri including channel, flathead, and blues. With the abundance of shad in it and the protective slot (26″-34″), Truman lake can produce nice size ones to catch as well.
We primarily target the bluecats on our guide trips. These fish can also be caught year round. Spring and summer produces great eater size numbers of fish, while the fall and winter season has better odds to land those big brutes.
Depending on the time of year, these blues can cover a lot of water and depths. So we use many methods to catch these fish while primarily using fresh cut shad for bait.
These methods include anchoring on channel edges and stump flats to drifting open mud flats with rod and reels. We also offer jug fishing too, which is great for all ages to try.
